Klappentext
Most of my life, there was always more happening inside me than I let people see or hear. I learned how to choose my words, hold in how I truly felt, and become whatever version of me felt safest in the moment. I knew how to survive and be there for other people, but I didn't know what it felt like to live completely comfortable with myself and be unapologetic about it. And let me tell you, at 35, I finally started seeing somebody I had never gotten a chance to fully know. Me.
I wasn't presenting this new person. I finally introduced myself to J'Bria. The one who had been silently sitting in the corner, waiting to come out from behind the shadows. I started finding my voice, discovering my confidence, reconnecting with my body, and learning what freedom felt like. What I didn't know was that finding myself would also prepare me to help other people find their way back to themselves. From Roots to Wings is not the story of a woman who has arrived, but a woman who is still becoming. I still have dreams I'm waiting for, prayers I'm waiting to see answered, things I'm healing from, and parts of myself I'm still discovering. But when I look back now, I can see how the woman who performed, the woman who grieved, the woman who questioned herself, the woman who found her voice, and the woman who learned to love herself were never separate women. They were me becoming me. Those pieces of my life that once seemed disconnected were roots. And roots aren't always pretty. Nobody compliments the roots when they're admiring the flower, and nobody takes pictures of the dirt, but most of what makes growth possible happens somewhere people can't see it. I've seen what God can grow from dirt.
