Biografie
George Catlin (1796-1872): in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania geboren. Bereits in seiner Jugend fühlt er sich zum Leben in der Wildnis hingezogen. Im Jahr 1821 beschließt er, seine Karriere als Jurist aufzugeben und Maler zu werden. In der darauffolgenden Zeit verfertigt er Porträts, bis er durch ein Schlüsselerlebnis veranlasst wird, alles hinter sich zu lassen und die Ureinwohner Amerikas zu studieren.Anmerkungen:
