Physics has moved on since the publication of the 2^nd^ edition of Quantum Field Theory in 2010, most notably by the discovery of the Higgs boson in 2013, and this 3^rd^ edition has been revised and updated throughout to take account of this and other recent advances. However, its three main objectives remain unchanged. They are:

• To explain the basic physics and formalism of quantum field theory
• To make the reader proficient in theory calculations using Feynman diagrams
• To introduce the reader to the gauge theories, which play a central role in elementary particle physics, namely quantum electrodynamics (QED), quantum chromodynamics (QCD) and the unified theory of electro-weak Interactions.

Intended for advanced undergraduate and graduate students in physics with an interest in theoretical and experimental particle physics, Quantum Field Theory aims to give a relatively straightforward introduction to what can sometimes seem a challenging subject.
