Using the theoretical framework of aggressive realism (primarily the work of John Mearsheimer), the authors analyze whether the Islamic Republic of Iran can be considered the regional hegemon. The study uses 2018 statistical data to rank the potential and actual capabilities-including military, economic, and demographic factors-of Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE. Additionally, it explores the history of border disputes between GCC members and proposes strategies for achieving sustainable regional security.
