Claude H. Maley: Leading Multi-Generational Project Teams in the Digital Age, Kartoniert / Broschiert

Klappentext

The 21st century has ushered in substantial social and economic transformations, accompanied by notable geopolitical instability and the widespread adoption of digital technologies. The nature of project management has evolved from conventional, fixed workplace environments to encompass a geographically diverse and globally distributed cohort of participants spanning multiple generations.

The current professional workforce comprises several distinct generational cohorts: Baby Boomers (1946-1964), Generation X (1965-1980), Millennials or Generation Y (1981-1996), Generation Z (1997-2010), and the soon-to-arrive Generation Alpha (born from 2010 onwards). This classification reflects the complex composition of modern society, where traditional approaches to project management are increasingly challenged. The widespread adoption of digital communication has further intensified these changes, as team interactions become predominantly virtual. Moreover, Generations X, Y, and Z bring differing perspectives on management and leadership compared to the principles typically embraced by Baby Boomers.

The most significant transformation in the project domain this century has been the emergence of Agentic Intelligence and its pivotal intersection with human agency and machine intelligence. Although Agentic Intelligence excels at optimizing schedules and forecasting risks with mathematical accuracy, it continues to face challenges in motivating teams, handling intricate organizational dynamics, and making ethical decisions within a complex global context.

In today's digital landscape, highly effective project managers are distinguished by their ability to develop a diverse and adaptable skill set. This includes mastery of project management techniques, complemented by strong empathetic leadership, superior communication skills, and proficient integration of Agentic Intelligence for analytical functions.

This calls for a paradigm shift in project management and leadership.

This book examines the essential leadership and communication competencies needed to effectively manage multi-generational teams in contemporary professional settings in the digital age, as well as the opportunities and challenges associated with the integration of Agentic Intelligence into the workplace.
