In the spring of 2025, Professor of Head and Neck Surgery Christos Georgalas returned to Gaza for a second medical mission, volunteering for a month at Nasser Hospital. Urgent Care brings together the notes he kept and the photographs he took while living and working at the largest active hospital in Gaza during one of the darkest periods in its history.

More than a first-person account of genocide, Urgent Care is a tribute to the resilience, dignity, and humanity of the people of Gaza and to the extraordinary healthcare workers who continue to care for patients under impossible conditions. Bearing witness with compassion and precision, Georgalas documents not only devastation, but courage, solidarity, and the everyday acts of care that persist amid war.

All proceeds from the book will be donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) and March to Gaza--Greece.
