Christopher Kincaid: Gotta Shelve 'Em All, Gebunden

Klappentext

Offers a top-level view of the medium of anime, including its categories, genres, character types, and other need-to-know information for librarians, especially those new to anime.

Saying "anime" is akin to saying "movies." Anime is a method of storytelling that spans a wide range of categories and genres. It also has its own visual language, tropes, and lingo that set it apart from other storytelling methods, which can make it a bit daunting for librarians new to the medium. This book:

· Explains anime's categories, genres, and most common character tropes. Understanding these will help you advise patrons looking for something new.
· Sketches the demographics and interests of anime fans, including how to reach out to and develop programs for them.
· Touches on challenges anime poses for libraries.
· Offers tips for circulating anime, program ideas, and suggestions for starting your own anime collection.

Gotta Shelve 'Em All-the title is a clever nod to Pokémon's tagline-introduces librarians who may not be familiar with anime to its tropes, categories, and genres. Relying on research, it sketches the general characteristics of patrons who are fans of the medium to help with advisory and program planning. It also addresses the content challenges librarians may face when collecting anime. You'll enjoy and learn from this light, fun introduction to a popular form of storytelling with unique language, approaches, and challenges.
