Klappentext
On Halloween night 1996, high school quarterback Steven Morrison accepts a dare to steal a Bible from an abandoned church in Cherry Falls, Pennsylvania. He dies in a fiery car crash minutes later. His friend Jim Hendricks survives the crash but discovers a page from the Bible that reads "You are marked." For twenty-five years, Jim is haunted by the page-which reappears no matter how many times he destroys it-until he finally takes his own life at the church.
David Morrison, the younger brother of Steven, and a paranormal investigator, has spent his entire adult life searching for proof of the supernatural without knowing his obsession stems from his brother's death. When his mother finally reveals the truth about Steven and the cursed Bible, David returns to Cherry Falls for the first time in years. There he meets Marcus Thorne, a young entrepreneur who purchased the Bible at a storage auction and discovered his own name within its pages, "Marcus Thorne, 2026, Financial Ruin." Together with Eleanor Patterson-an elderly archivist who has documented the curse's victims for fifty years-David begins digging into the Bible's dark history.
The trio discover that in 1883, a priest named Matthias Drael attempted to summon and bind a demonic entity to the Bible. The ritual went catastrophically wrong, and Drael was consumed. For generations, the demon has claimed countless lives within Cherry Falls, each dying in ways that mirror their deepest fears. The curse has been kept secret by the citizens through generations of silence and denial. Eleanor reveals she made a deal with the demon decades ago-her silence in exchange for her safety-and has been consumed by guilt.
When David places his hands on the Bible, it shows him his own entry-"David Morrison, 2022, Exorcism." In a desperate gambit, David offers himself as a voluntary sacrifice to save Marcus. The demon accepts, changing David's entry to "Transformation" and erasing Marcus's name completely. Over the next year, David partners with the demon in controlled confrontations, learning its nature. When three college students are trapped in catatonic visions by the demon, David realizes the entity has broken their agreement and is claiming new victims.
David, Marcus, and Eleanor prepare a three-part ritual to permanently destroy the Bible, unbinding (reversing Drael's summoning), severance (replacing fear with love by honoring all victims), and destruction (burning the Bible). On Halloween night, 27 years after the death of his brother, the ritual is performed at the church to free Cherry Falls from the curse that has plagued its citizens for generations. Many have failed so will the curse finally be broken?
The Curse of Cherry Falls is a story about breaking cycles of inherited trauma through courage, truth, and love. It's a supernatural thriller with genuine emotional stakes and one man's choice to stand in the fire so others may be set free.
