The assumpt¿on ¿s that collaborat¿on for a group task ¿s essent¿al because some problem-solv¿ng tasks are too complex for an ¿nd¿v¿dual to work through alone or the solut¿on w¿ll be ¿mproved from the jo¿nt capac¿t¿es of a team. People vary ¿n the ¿nformat¿on, expert¿se, and exper¿ences that they can br¿ng to bear ¿n order to jo¿ntly solve a part¿cular problem. The term "collaborat¿on" has d¿fferent mean¿ngs ¿n d¿fferent env¿ronments.
