Andy Hargreaves: Changing Teachers for Challenging Times, Gebunden

Klappentext

In the thirty years since its first publication, Andy Hargreaves' foundational book - one of the most cited books on teaching - has established itself at the forefront of thinking on teachers' work and culture.

Faced with a global crisis in recruitment and retention and building on a wealth of new research, Hargreaves returns for this completely remastered edition to confront the challenges facing today's teachers.

At the heart of this clear, compelling, work is a brand-new idea - teaching to repair the world . This is a vision of teaching where experiential learning is for everyone, not just those who can't get to university; where teachers repair the damage that children are increasingly bringing into school; where young people are inspired to understand and respond to a world that is falling into disrepair - and where the way for teachers to do this, is together.

Drawing on the experiences of teachers in many countries, Hargreaves sets out a comprehensive vision that completely rethinks the emotional core of teaching, how teachers deal with the ever-present problem of time, why teachers resist change, how we must sustain rather than simply retain our teachers, and how we can build the collaborative professionalism that will bond teachers with strong, challenging relationships as well as solid protocols and structures.

Provocative, prescient, and practical, this is a roadmap for 21st century teachers, and for everyone who wants to make teaching better in the turbulent times of today.
