new york ironweed was selected for the 2025 Ottoline Prize.

The poems in new york ironweed are strange and witchy little creatures. They play with language which decomposes by poem's end, much in the way that plants decompose back into the soil. Intentionally "imperfect," the poems allow for any typos or misspellings, reflecting nature's imperfections.
In a time of climate crisis and insect crisis, these energetic, hyper-conscious poems do their part to address "plant blindness," drawing attention to the wild plants all around us and their importance to the survival of our species.
