Käthe Kollwitz (1867-1945) - an artist of international renown - addressed war, poverty, and death, but also love and security, in her drawings, prints, and sculptures like no other. As a student immersed in Munich's vibrant bohemian scene, she achieved her breakthrough in Berlin with her first cycle of prints. Two world wars and personal tragedies shaped her work. To this day, she is regarded as Germany's best-known female artist.
