Noel Kingsbury hat sich als Autor zu den Themen Pflanzen und Gartengestaltung international einen Namen gemacht und wurde aufgrund seiner Unterstützung von ökologisch orientierten Bepflanzungskonzepten bekannt. Neben seiner Arbeit als Autor, Gartengestalter und Bepflanzungsplaner betreibt er zusammen mit der Universität von Sheffield Forschungen zur Verbesserung des Pflanzensortiments. Er lebt in Bristol und in seinem kleinen Landhaus bei Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire, England.
