Max Barry verbrachte die besten Jahre seines Lebens im Darmtrakt von Hewlett-Packard, wo er heimlich an den Recherchen für dieses Buch arbeitete. Es ist sein dritter Roman nach »Fukk« und dem Bestseller »Logoland«, der von der New York Times zu einem der besten Bücher des Jahres erkoren wurde. Max Barry wurde am 18.März 1973 geboren und lebt in Melbourne Australien. Er ist ein Full-Time-Autor, hält sich aber an einen strikten Dresscode, achtet darauf, dass sein Schreibtisch stets aufgeräumt ist und beschränkt persönliche Telefonate auf maximal zwei Minuten.
