Biografie
Iain Banks wurde 1954 in Schottland geboren. Nach einem Englischstudium schlug er sich mit etlichen Gelegenheitsjobs durch, bis ihn sein 1984 veröffentlichter Roman Die Wespenfabrik als neue aufregende literarische Stimme bekannt machte. In den folgenden Jahren schrieb er zahllose weitere erfolgreiche Romane, darunter Bedenke Phlebas, Exzession und Der Algebraist. Er gilt als einer der bedeutendsten Vertreter der britischen Gegenwartsliteratur. Am 9. Juni 2013 starb Iain Banks im Alter von 59 Jahren.
