Biografie
Frank Herbert, 1920 in Tacoma, Washington, geboren, arbeitet als Austerntaucher, TV-Kameramann, Rundfunktsprecher und Journalist. 1963 wird der erste Teil seines SF-Romans Dune, zu deutsch "Der Wüstenplanet", veröffentlicht. Der dritte Teil, der 1976 erscheint, gerät aufgrund von Mundpropaganda bis in die Bestsellerlisten von Publishers Weekly. Nach der Verfilmung durch David Lynch 1984 werden die Dune-Bände zum Weltbestseller. Der Band seiner gesammelten Erzählungen beweist, daß er auch ein Meister der kurzen Form ist.
