Beschreibung
The history of political events of the Etruscans begins with the development of public structures in the 8th century BC. It ends 89 BC, when the last of the Etruscan city states gains roman citizenships and is included in the roman federation. In spite of vastly growing number archaeological findings and new methods of approach, there are few attempts to present the history of the Etruscans. The work tries to fill in this gap. The author offers a consolidated and accurate presentation of the rise and the development of the Etruscan states based on historic events. The political organisation includes territorial boundaries, the citizens, the constitution and law, the economy, the religion and inter stately relations. Additionally the Etruscan alliance, interstate contracts and united warfare is discussed.
