Kabul 1979. A student wakes in an unfamiliar house battered and bruised. He gradually recovers his mind to discover that returning from a night out he was brutally attacked by soldiers and left to die.

Atiq Rahimi, 1962 in Kabul geboren, studierte Literatur. 1984 floh er über Pakistan nach Frankreich, wo er vor allem als Dokumentarfilmer tätig ist. Sein international vielbeachtetes Erde und Asche wurde 2004 verfilmt.
